Fresh directions for the conduct of proceedings in the High Court and Subordinate Courts in Jammu and Kashmir in wake of Covid-19.

In wake of rising cases of Covid-19 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh Court has issued fresh guidelines/directions for hearing and filing of cases in the High Court and Subordinate Courts which will remain in force till 31st January, 2022 unless reviewed earlier.

Protocols for High Court:

All the cases will be heard through virtual mode and only urgent matters will be taken up for physical hearing subject to the discretion of the Bench.

A video link will be created for each Bench which will be available on the official website of the High Court or may be circulated through any other media.

Fresh cases can only be filed through E-Filing portal of the High Court in accordance with E-filing Rules, 2021.

Protocol for Subordinate Courts:

All the cases will be heard through virtual mode and only urgent matters will be taken up for physical hearing subject to the discretion of the Presiding Officer.

A video link will be created by concerned Court which will be given to advocates/litigants and will be available on the official website of the High Court or may be circulated through any other media.

Protocols for Advocates and Litigants:

In case of physical hearing of a case entry of advocate into Court premises is permitted.

Entry of general public inside the Court Premises is prohibited. Clerks of the Advocates can have access to the Advocate’s Chamber but entry into the Court is prohibited.

The accused and witnesses are permitted to enter into the Court on the date of hearing.
